The Starlight Foundation has a very special relationship with us here at Cashrewards. Cashrewards founders, Andrew and Lorcia Clarke, experienced the importance of their work first-hand when their son battled and survived cancer in 2014.
Since 2014, we have donated 1% of every transaction on the Cashrewards platform to the Starlight Children’s Foundation, and seven years later our partnership is stronger than ever.
In October 2020, Cashrewards pledged to give 1% of it’s equity to Starlight, making Cashrewards the first ASX-listed company to join the Pledge 1% movement. Started by Salesforce, the 1% Pledge challenges companies of all sizes to pledge 1% of their equity, their time, their product or their profit towards philanthropic and charitable efforts.
Naturally, Starlight Day is an important day on the Cashrewards events calendar. As the foundation’s largest national fundraising event, the day aims to raise much-needed funds to support sick kids through its hospital services. This year we’re committed to supporting the foundation reach its fundraising goal and ask you, our valued community, to partner with us as we support Starlight in helping sick kids, simply be kids.
Donate
The most effective way to celebrate Starlight Day is to donate and there are lots of ways you can give. You can join the foundation’s Shining Star program and commit to donating a regular monthly gift that helps bring happiness to sick children all year round. Or, you can join the Starlight Wish Circle – a committed group of supporters passionate about the life changing power of a Starlight Wish.
If you can’t donate cash, perhaps you could consider donating your time? Starlight is always seeking valuable support from skilled professionals and businesses who specialise in a variety of areas such as market research, printing (brochures, flyers and posters) and handyman services.
Fundraise
Organising a fundraising event is another fantastic way you can raise awareness and funds for the Starlight Foundation. Whether you’re going sugar free for 30 days or whether you’d like to livestream playing video games, there are fundraising opportunities for everyone!
If you’re looking for a team challenge, look no further than the Great Adventure Challenge. Launched in 2008, this is an exciting, demanding and fun adventure race. Covering a range of activities from mountain biking, trail running, kayaking and coasteering, teams are tested to the boundaries of both brain and body. Perfect for work teams, this is a great way to get active while also raising money for a great cause.
