In a world dominated by high-end expensive mobile phones hugely driven by celebrity endorsement and big budget advertorials, we forget that other reliable and more cost-effective phones like the Nokia range exists. This Nokia X6 4G Phablet Review illustrates that there are some great handsets available from trusted brands, at much lower price points.
Back in the day, Nokia reigned supreme when it came to ground-breaking technology that was the mobile phone. So when I was asked to trial the Nokia X6 Phablet, I jumped at the chance.
Nokia has been a well-known and trusted brand since 1865 when the company began as a paper mill. Nowadays, its popularity has reached all corners of the globe from what most people have come to know it for – its mobile phones.
In 1987, Nokia introduced its first mobile phone on a mass scale, the Mobira Cityman 900, made famous by then Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev. The first mobile phone my family owned back in the early 1990s was a Nokia. I later followed the tradition by owning a 5110, 6110 and the 3310 before I stopped using Nokia, when the market became flooded with shinier, smarter phones made by the likes of Motorola, Samsung and of course Apple.
To be perfectly honest, Nokia has produced some great, reliable phones over the years that are easy to use and affordable. Not forgetting that the digital games craze on phones all started with Snake! However, the company did lag in the newer techy features of their competitors, which was possibly why there was a shift to higher-end smartphones. That is, until now.
The X6 Phablet lives up to Nokia’s reliability. It’s a sleek looking smartphone, that’s lightweight (0.1550kg), has a large clear screen and all the mod cons that smartphones come with these days.
Nokia X6 4G Phablet Review: What’s on offer?
The specs are pretty impressive! With a large 5.8-inch display, fingerprint and face ID, and triple cameras are just the beginning.
The camera’s features include AI image enhancements and a HDR photo mode. The camera also has Nokia’s ‘bothie’ mode, which allows for photos and videos to be captured from both the front and rear-facing cameras at the same time. It also has a beauty filter for those selfie lovers out there. It doesn’t stop there, you can link up your Facebook or YouTube account and you can live stream using the Dual Sight camera.
It’s also the first Nokia phone to feature the Snapdragon 636 chipset that’s coupled with 4GB or 6GB of RAM. The Snapdragon 636 boasts a long battery life and fast LTE speeds found on the 4G network. Delivering the best performance available on the network, so your internet experience is as good as it is on a home computer when connected to your wireless.
Set up is easy and the phone’s touch screen capabilities are really good. It already comes with most Google Apps like Hangouts, Gmail, Drive and Google Play. Just link your Google account and away you go!
